ALBANY, N.Y. -- Several dozen people held vigil in East Capitol Park Wednesday evening as Troy Davis asked the Supreme Court to grant a stay of execution.
Davis was scheduled to be executed in Georgia Wednesday night, but filed an eleventh hour plea to stop his death.
Rally organizers say the group here in Albany is just one of many across the nation that is joining together with one voice in working to keep Davis alive.
"Albany has a very strong, progressive movement of people who are willing to stand up and fight for things that are wrong. So you saw tonight, very powerful representation to send across to Georgia in the fight to save Troy Davis' life," said Victorio Reyes, Executive Director of the Albany Social Justice Center.
Reyes says the group will be out again on Thursday as Justices decide Davis' fate.
