NEW YORK -- Bow and muzzle-loading hunters across the state can finally gear up. Starting at sunrise on Saturday, muzzle-loaders were allowed in the northern zone covering the Adirondacks, the Tug Hill Plateau, the eastern Lake Ontario plain, and the Champlain and Saint Lawrence valleys.

Bowhunters were allowed in the southern zone, taking in the rest of upstate except for Westchester County. But this season did not come without a few changes. A new law allows 12 and 13 year olds to buy Junior Bowhunting licenses.

Bear hunting has also been expanded to include Washington and Westchester Counties during the same time as deer hunting.
