WATERFORD, N.Y. -- Dr. Zahid Nazir, 43, closed his internal medicine practice early Tuesday, after Waterford police arrested him for forcible touching and sexual abuse.

"We've been working on this for approximately two, two and a half weeks, the investigation," said Town of Waterford Public Safety Commissioner John Tanchak.

The alleged victim is a female, adult age, who lives in Warren County. Police said she described three different incidents having to do with Nazir. No other patient has come forward.

"We're not saying he's guilty," said Tanchak. "Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but the alleged conduct was investigated and it led to him and that's why he was arrested."

Nazir, who was arraigned and released on bail, wouldn't go on camera but said, "We deal with addiction patients and they can be a difficult population to deal with. When they bring urine samples, we often have to pat them down in case they're hiding something. I did not do anything wrong. It's all just allegations."

Nazir's brother, who we talked to at his home, said Zahid would never go that far.

Waterford police said the investigation is ongoing.
