ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- "In many cases they have changed as a result of countywide redistricting," said Democratic County Elections Commissioner Matt Clyne.

Polling locations across Albany County are moving and you can blame September redistricting, when nearly three dozen election districts were eliminated and remaining districts were redrawn.

"Every ten years, the counties are required to change their district lines to conform to census numbers," said Clyne. "It just hasn't been done in a while and this year was unique in the respect that it was done quickly."

Take for instance Colonie, where voters can no longer go to Colonie High or in Albany where 14th and 15th ward residents will return to New Covenant Presbyterian and Mater Christi churches, two sites that were closed in recent elections but are now open again.

"We had six weeks to reconfigure an entire county's election districts and that created some confusion and there was some scrambling done," said Clyne.

But Board of Election Commissioners say between mailings and media, they're not worried about voters finding their way.

"Many people get these cards and don't pay attention to them and that's unfortunate," said Clyne. "But they get sent out annually countywide and you really do have to pay attention when you get the card to determine where you're gonna vote."
