ALBANY, N.Y. -- The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering held its first ever Capital Region Nanotechnology Showcase. The showcase gave local students a chance to show off nanotechnology projects they've worked on in school.

Students from Ballston Spa High School, Colonie Central High School, Questar III BOCES and Tech Valley High School participated.

The college's vice president says the work they're doing now will give them a leg up in the future.

"It really is a chance for the students to take some of the things they've learned in their classrooms, of course, and schools, combine them with a lot of the topics that are of course focuses of our research here and to get some hands on experience. So many times, students don't really get a chance to understand what it means to be working with these technologies right at their fingertips. This is a great place for them to do that," said Robert Gere, CNSE VP for Academic Affairs.

In addition to showing off their projects, students also received information about pursuing nanotechnology in higher education and as a career.
