SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The FBI awards two Saratoga Springs residents with the FBI Director's Community Leadership Award for 2011.
The award is given to those who are involved in drug, crime, terrorism, gang or violence education and prevention.
Sam and Linda Palazzole are this year's recipients. The Albany Division of the FBI said the couple demonstrates an outstanding commitment to keeping children safe through their efforts with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
They've organized fundraiser to help establish a local office here in the capital region. They said it's an honor to be recognized but say they couldn't have done it alone.
"We're especially grateful to our board members, our volunteers and all of the people in the Capital Region who participated in the fundraising to help establish this office that will be the spearhead for the protection of our children in the Capital Region," said Sam Palazzole.
A retired police officer will work with the office in holding programs to help educate parents, teachers and law enforcement in preventing child exploitation and abduction.
