SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The news of Bernie Fine's firing came as a shock to SU fans, who have been waiting for more than a week for the situation to resolve.
Students on the SU Hill say they were disturbed by the news and that their hearts go out to the victims.
"I'm incredibly surprised and I'm a little bit saddened that I attend a school in which something like this happened and no one even really had any knowledge of it until recently," said Sophomore Emily Latainer.
"As a university we do hope to eradicate this type of thing and hope it never happens again because it is an awful thing to go through. No matter what we'll stand behind these victims," said sophomore Mikala Subley
Students also say that the news of Bernie Fine's firing traveled quickly on campus. They reported that students began talking about it almost immediately on social media sites and the University had updates on its facebook page.
