COLONIE, N.Y. -- More information has been released about what exactly happened before a woman was hit and killed on a Northway on ramp Wednesday morning.

Police said Dawn Marie Wright, 40, was arrested earlier that night for driving under the influence of drugs.

They believe she was trying to hitchhike home to Clifton Park when she was hit by a pickup truck. An autopsy shows she died of cardiac arrest due to massive head trauma.

Police said she was released to a responsible party after her arrest, but that they later parted ways. The driver of the pickup truck stopped immediately following the accident and is not being charged.
