ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Albany County Sheriff's uncovered a marijuana growing operation in the Towne of Berne. Deputies say they found the operation Tuesday afternoon through an anonymous tip.
According to Sheriff Craig Apple, about 100 marijuana plants were found in four different rooms of an abandoned house located on the corner of State Route 85 and County Route 11.
Investigators say when they first arrived at the grow house they could smelled the marijuana from the door. According to Apple, that is when the investigators obtained a search warrant and entered.
Apple says a journal with dates, times and other information was left behind, leading them to a possible suspect.
"They were nice enough to leave us a journal with all the information on it. So we know who we're looking for. We have a body. Our investigators are out right now trying to locate that subject. And we'll take it from there. it’s another good grow, it’s a little bit more rudimentary than the other one we had last week, which was kind of a high-tech grow, but they knew what to do and they were doing a pretty good job at it," Apple said.
The discovery of this growing operation comes just one week after police uncovered a similar growing operation in the area.
Apple says he does not believe the two are connected.
