ALBANY, N.Y. -- It's a 20 year vision for the City of Albany. On Thursday night, the Albany 2030 plan was presented to residents and city leaders.

It's a process to create the city’s first comprehensive plan. It includes all aspects of city life, such as transportation, housing, infrastructure and education.

Many people in the community have been involved in the planning for Albany 2030 for more than two years. Some important items in the plan include utilizing underdeveloped areas, revitalizing distressed neighborhoods and increasing home ownership.

“Really, the take home of the Albany 2030 plan is about quality of life and having a community where you want to raise your kids. And the thing that's most interesting about the plan, is that it’s really unifying across the entire city, from the south end to the dunes, everyone has the same vision, they want a nice safe place with good schools to raise their families," said Doug Melnick, Director of Planning for the City of Albany.

Next week, the plan will go to the common council for consideration.
