Two arrested in connection with Kinderhook fires
KINDERHOOK, N.Y. -- Two teens were arrested in connection with a series of fires in the Town of Kinderhook between January 12th and 14th.
According to police, on the 14th, fire officials were called to the Napa Store on State Route 9, where a vehicle was on fire. Police say an investigation into that incident led them to Jozef Ortiz, 18, of Valatie, and a 15-year-old from Kinderhook. They were each charged with one count of arson in the third degree.
Ortiz was arraigned and taken to the Columbia County Jail on $15,000 bail.
The 15-year-old was issued a family court appearance ticket.
