ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Albany County Sheriff's deputies arrested eight people who they say collected more than $41,000 in public assistance benefits that they were not legally entitled to.
Deputies say Etta Wray of Albany, Jacqueline Gageway and Charles McLaughlin of Colonie, and Iris Brown of Albany were all arrested for welfare fraud.
Deputies also say Jessica Rosario of Cohoes, Shantell Payne of Albany, Pinpong SomBoon and Garnjana SomBoon, both of Cohoes, were arrested on welfare fraud.
They were all arraigned and released on the own recognizance.
