MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- Middletown Police and State Police are investigating a homicide. It happened Sunday around 8:20 p.m. in front of Mario's Auto Center.

Police say they responded to a call for shots fired near the intersection of Cottage Street and Wickham Avenue. According to police, when they got there, they found one person dead. Police say they believe he or she died from being shot.

The victim's name is being withheld until the family has been notified.
