NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- The Downing Film Center in the City of Newburgh was supposed to be the hot spot Friday night.

"Return" a feature film shot on location in Newburgh, New Windsor, and Beacon, premieres at the Front Street theatre. Or does it.

Downing Film Center Director Brian Burke said, “We got some news late in the afternoon, actually mid afternoon, that "Return" will not be shown."

Film center director Brian Burke blames the snafu on movie distribution legal issues.

Burke said, “We only have one screen. There are some companies that do not allow you to share that screen with another film."

Like a restaurant the Downing Film Center accepts reservations for its 60 seats -- which were booked more 50 percent for the premiere of "Return."

Plans now are to premiere the movie locally about a Soldier's struggles coming home from war, sometime in March.

One person who's sure to be there, former Newburgh mayor Nick Valentine who has a cameo in the film.

Valentine said, “There were some stills that came out of me in the scene with Linda Cardellini, so I was looking forward to it."

You're just going to have to "return" to the theatre to see it next month.
