SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The man who said there was a fourth accuser in the Bernie Fine scandal is once again making allegations of sex abuse against a coach at the university. At a panel discussion Thursday at Syracuse University, Father Bob Hoatson said that he was aware of an individual who alleges he has been abused by a head coach at SU, but that the victim is not ready to come forward.

Syracuse University spokesman Kevin Quinn released the following statement regarding Hoatson's comments:

“While the University has no information about this allegation, as soon Mr. Hoatson's remark came to our attention, we made the police and District Attorney aware of it. We encourage any victim to come forward and report abuse to the authorities."

Syracuse police confirm that they were notified by the university and said it was the first time they had heard of the allegations. Police said they intend to meet with Father Hoatson to see what he knows.

Father Hoatson, who also runs the victims' advocacy group Road to Recovery, has been very vocal about the scandal and spent several days picketing outside the university after the allegations surfaced. He also came forward with news of a fourth victim during the early stages of the scandal, Floyd VanHooser. VanHooser is serving a life prison sentence and admitted that he lied about the allegations.
