ALBANY, N.Y. -- The 19-year-old man arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run in Albany is being held without bail.

Ian Eckhardt-Rigberg was arraigned in Albany City Court where he pleaded not guilty to all charges including second-degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of a personal injury auto accident resulting in death. He is also charged with several traffic violations.

He is accused of hitting Rozell Whitehead as he crossed Henry Johnson Boulevard Saturday night. Whitehead was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center.

Albany police said Eckhardt-Rigberg didn't stop but later went to the Bethlehem police station to report an accident. Police said it was then determined that he was the driver in the hit and run and he was turned over to Albany detectives.

State Police confirmed that before the accident, troopers were pursuing Eckhardt-Rigberg for speeding on I-90. The pursuit was called off when he got off at Exit 6 and onto Henry Johnson.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
