SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Police in Wilton say a dropped cell phone has led to the arrest of an Averill Park man they say broke into a Saratoga County home. State Police say it happened on Route 32 in the Town of Northumberland.

They say the homeowner walked in on Thomas Sutliff, 25, going through her valuables. State Police say he grabbed some jewelry and then took off.

State Police say during his quick exit, Sutliff ended up dropping his cell phone, which allowed them to trace the phone to him. They say he also tried to steal rifles and shotguns.

Sutliff faces second degree burglary charges.
