BURNT HILLS, N.Y. -- Third time's the charm for Burnt Hills graduate, Dave Fischer, who was drafted out of high school, but decided to go to college.

He was drafted after his junior year at UConn but decided to finish his college career. This year he was drafted by the Washington Nationals.

The Nationals have sent Fischer to Auburn to play for the DoubleDays in the NY-Penn League, which means we'll see them in Troy this season taking on the ValleyCats.

The DoubleDays open the season on Monday.

According to Fischer, he's glad to be playing to close to home and he's ready to just get to it.
