TROY, N.Y. -- The Troy Dodgers are holding a special collection to help those that are resettling after Tropical Storm Irene. Pete and Mark Quandt, two former Dodgers, approached the team asking to help them help their community.

Now the team is collecting furniture, cookware and appliances among other items to donate those in Schoharie County who are still recovering from the devastation caused by last year's flooding.

They are even getting help from Price Chopper, who sent a trailer and driver to Geer Field to help collect items and deliver them to Schoharie.

"They wanted to know if the Dodgers would help out in this fundraiser for the Schoharie people. So, of course we said we'd do whatever we needed to do, so we got a Price Chopper truck down here and we're hoping a lot of people will come down here and donate their extra stuff so that the Schoharie people from the flood can get some help," said George Rogers, the manager of the South Troy Dodgers.

The team asked that the items be in reasonable good condition and not to donate clothing.
