POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- People in Poughkeepsie are celebrating Father's Day early at the tenth annual Pougkeepsie Father's Day Parade. This year's parade was in honor of the fallen Poughkeepsie Detective, John Falcone.

Falcone died in the line of duty back in February. People said they are proud of the community coming together to appreciate each other at the only Father's Day Parade in the country.

According to Poughkeepsie Mayor John Tkzazyak, the day is more than just celebrating fathers, but the entire community as well.

"Coming together and celebrating and enjoying our fellowship with all our neighbors and friends here in the park," said Mayor Tkzazyak.

According to organizers, the parade was a success. Bands lined the streets and more than one thousand people came out to celebrate Saturday's event.
