POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A group of Poughkeepsie residents march for affordable housing. The rally started on Hamilton Street on Saturday, purposely continuing past the three bank-owned, foreclosed homes to highlight the city's housing for foreclosure crisis. The group said hundreds of families are homeless.

At each stop, community members cleaned up the properties while others read off facts about the buildings and the bank that owns them.

Those marching said they are also launching a campaign to help low income residents.

"I don't understand why there's so much property around, empty buildings, vacant buildings, and then there's so many people on the streets. There has to be a way to figure out how to marry the two concepts together," said Dina Wilson, a housing advocate.

Wilson and others are calling on the banks and local officials to take action.
