ALBANY, N.Y. -- Healthcare advocacy groups from the Capital Region rallied in support of the Supreme Court's decision on universal healthcare in Albany Thursday afternoon.

Representatives from Health Care for All New York, Planned Parenthood and a number of other groups said they gathered not just to celebrate healthcare, but to celebrate the federal government's decision to protect the needs of the people.

"It's a victory for all Americans, for all New Yorkers and all people in the Capital District. It's a victory for the millions of Americans and millions of New Yorkers that will now be able to get health coverage for themselves and their families without being afraid of filing bankruptcy," said Bob Cohen of Citizen Action NY.

Cohen says the ruling is not just about healthcare. Advocates are also hoping the decision also grants struggling Americans more economic security.
