Painting a new picture of running

By: Web Staff

Experts often say that running can lift your spirits, but a race that's coming to the Capital Region will do more to brighten and color your life. The "Color Me Rad" race is a 5K. It takes the sport of running, and combines it with a healthy splash of color. Lara Peterson explains.

ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. – Experts have often said running can add years to a person's life. But did you know it can add a little color, too?

This fall, the "Color Me Rad" 5K run will be coming to the Capital Region. Taking place at the Altamont Fairgrounds, the event will benefit the Special Olympics New York. But, this isn't your typical 5K.

"It's a 5K color run so every half mile we have color stations set up with color and as you run through them you get color thrown on you. And then at the end of the finish line you get color packets that come with your registration, and at the end about every 20 minutes we have color thrown up and have a big color fest at the end," explained Lara Peterson, “Color Me Rad.”

This event is taking place September 22nd at the Altamont Fairgrounds. The $40 early bird registration deadline is tonight, and on Saturday, the price goes up a little bit.
