Woman charged with felony DWI after crash with child in the car

MILLERTON, N.Y. -- An Amenia woman is charged with felony DWI after the sheriff's office said she was involved in a crash with her 7-year-old daughter in the car.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office responded to Route 22 at the intersection with Route 44 around 5:15 p.m. Thursday for a report of an accident. The sheriff's office said Lenore Salmons, 48, was involved in a three-car accident and that she was exhibiting signs of possible intoxication.

The investigation found that two cars were stopped at the traffic light when Salmons hit the back of the first car, which was pushed into the second car. No one was injured.

Salmons was charged with aggravated DWI, a felony, because her 7-year-old daughter was in the car at the time. She was also charged with following too closely and refusing to submit to a breath test.
