Man found guilty for possessing untaxed tobacco products
ALBANY, N.Y. -- An Albany man faces five to 15 years behind bars after he was found guilty for selling unstamped and untaxed cigarette and tobacco products.
Albany County District Attorney David Soares says Juan Reynoso-Fabian was selling the products at his convenient store on Central Avenue. The New York State Department of Tax and Finance Department did an inspection back in August and found more than $24,000 worth of the untaxed and unstamped products.
Reynoso-Fabian faces 10 felony counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and one count of willful possession of cigarettes in packages bearing false and counterfeit stamps. He remains in Albany County Jail and returns to court in August for his sentencing.
