SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- GE partnered with a local school to help encourage young girls to look ahead and show case the importance of math in science.

A group of about 50 seventh and eighth grade girls from Niskayuna are spending all week at an engineering camp for girls. The students not only got to see lab experiments, but took part in hands on activities as well. They'll also get to talk to women in the industry about what their careers are like.

"It is fun because at school, we don't really focus on engineering as much. So it is interesting to see job wise what we could be working on in the future," student Marian Mizenai said.

On Tuesday, students will be at Niskayuna High School working on team projects.
