ALBANY, N.Y. -- In separate letters to Southwest Airlines and United Airlines, Senator Charles Schumer asks for more flights out of Albany International Airport to major airport hubs in Denver and Houston.
The program Schumer is proposing would include revenue guarantees of $1.5 million for each airline if they choose to participate.
Schumer's offers are spurred by the Capital Tegion's growing technology industry. He says the connection between Albany's high-tech hub with the high-tech hubs across the country could only be a positive.
According to Schumer, “A direct route that connects Albany and the hubs in Houston and Denver would be a win-win-win for the airlines, Albany’s booming high-tech industry and Capital Region travelers.”
