ALBANY, N.Y. -- A Colonie woman is now serving her prison sentence in a welfare fraud case.

Angela Lopez appeared before a judge in Albany County Court Thursday morning before she was led off in handcuffs.

She will spend the next two to six years behind bars. Lopez cried in court and begged the judge to let her go free. She even showed up with a check for $95,000, which is roughly the amount of welfare benefits she stole.

Last year, Lopez appealed a plea deal she took, which would have immediately sent her to prison. A state appeals court later rejected her arguments.
