MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Family, friends and the Fonda-Fultonville community gathered to remember the life of Tylar Zielinski.
Zielinski lived in Sprakers and though he battled muscular dystrophy, he worked hard to live a normal life. Though the illness prevented him from attending regular classes at Fonda-Fultonville High School, his classmates embraced him.
Zielinski’s dad says his son was able to fulfill his goals of going to the prom and graduating just two weeks before he died on July 6th.
Family and friends expressed their gratitude and appreciation to all those who helped make Zielinski's dreams come true.
Zielinski made friends on special visits to the high school and those who knew him say they are forever changed by their bond with him.
“It was his personality. He was never complaining about anything, he was more worried about everyone else. He was all there as a person, just not physically,” said Brittny Richtmyer, Zielinski’s prom date.
“We thank each and every one of the people involved in with that to help him reach that goal, we can’t thank them enough. Tylar was a blessing to us and the community and to anyone who ever met Tylar,” said Kim Zielinski , Tylar Zielinski ‘s aunt.
Zielinski’s dad says Tim McGraw's song "Live Like You Were Dying" was his son's theme song.
Zielinski was just 20-years-old.
