NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Con Ed and the Utility Workers Union are still in talks to hammer out a contract. Talks continued Saturday, two weeks after negotiations broke down between the union that represents thousands of New York utility workers and the company that supplies electricity to most of New York City.

Neither side has indicated any real progress. About 8,500 workers were locked out on June 20, when both sides failed to reach a new contract agreement. Contract negotiations have stalled over issues of wages, health benefits, and pensions. Con Ed said 5,000 managers have been working to keep the power flowing to the company's 3.2 million customers.
