GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- In the wake of the Colorado tragedy, we wanted to know if local police are doing anything differently. Guilderland Police said they not only have a substation inside Crossgates Mall, but have patrols dedicated to the mall during specific times of the year. However, they said after Friday's shooting in Colorado, they plan to step it up a notch, just to be safe.

"We will have extra presence at the mall absolutely. Both in the mall, and within the areas. Anytime there's a place where people can congregate, we're always concerned about incidents that might occur," said Captain Curtis Cox, Guilderland Police.

He said that in addition to a regular police presence, there are two different private security crews at Crossgates. One is employed by the mall, and another is employed by the theater.
