NEW YORK, N.Y. -- A former New York City Police Department officer fired for his role in the Sean Bell shooting is suing the department to get his job back.

Gescard Isnora claims in the suit that he was unfairly singled out for dismissal while other officers involved with the shooting were given the option of resigning. After a departmental trial back in March, Isnora was fired without pension or benefits for violating protocols.

Isnora fired the first of the 50 shots when Bell was killed outside a Queens strip club in November of 2006. He was acquitted of criminal charges in the case along with three others, who were allowed to resign with their pensions through a plea deal.
