NISKAYUNA, N.Y. -- O.D. Heck Developmental Center in Niskayuna faces another lawsuit following a second death of a disabled resident.
The family of a 22-year-old severely disabled man said their son was both verbally and physically abused. They said he was malnourished before he died of pneumonia last year.
Court documents name five employees who cared for the victim.
Attornies for this family also took on the case of Jonathan Carey, 13, the boy who died in 2007 after being improperly restrained by employees at the same facility.
Edwin Tirado and another O.D. Heck employee, Nadeem Mall were both convicted in Carey's death. Tirado is currently serving 5-15 years in state prison.
