POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Many homeowners are trekking outside to find trees, power lines and power down all across Dutchess County.

The brunt of the storm struck southern Dutchess municipalities like Wappingers Falls and East Fishkill, but Poughkeepsie and Pleasant Valley also saw damage in Mid-Dutchess.

County officials say no significant injuries have been linked to the storm.

"We don't see this too much around here, you know, we're lucky. The whole block is without power. I just went and checked on a neighbor, everybody's doing okay. So we have a good neighborhood here and we're sticking together looking out for one another," Poughkeepsie resident Terrence Mills said.

It's been more than six years since the county's last reported tornado. That was in Lagrange back in 2006.
