SCOTIA, N.Y. -- Police are searching for a man they say attempted to lure a young girl into his car in Scotia. They say he offered a 10-year-old girl candy while she was riding her scooter on Cartwheel Drive.

The parents of the girl tell police she refused the offer and ran home.

The suspect is described as a man in his 40s wearing a light blue t-shirt with an eagle and sword on it. He was driving a green four door sedan with rust around the wheels.

Police say a similar situation happened in the same neighborhood two weeks ago involving a similar looking man and car where he approached a young girl and asked if she wanted to see his puppy.

Neighbors tell us they're frightened by the news.

"It's a quiet neighborhood. We've been here seven years, lot of kids in the neighborhood, it's very unusual," said Wes Miller.

"It's a really scary thing, to have somebody, you know, because there's so many kids that could disappear in a matter of seconds. I'm just shocked," Carleen Matheson said.
