SCOTIA, N.Y. -- Police have released more details as they continue to search for a man they say attempted to lure a young girl into his car in Scotia.

Police now say that the suspect they are searching for is a man in his 40s with short black hair. Officials say he was seen wearing a light blue t-shirt with an eagle and sword on it when he offered a 10-year-old girl candy while she was riding her scooter on Cartwheel Drive.

The parents of the girl tell police she refused the offer and ran home.

The suspect was driving a green four door sedan with rust around the wheels.

Police also say that a similar situation that happened in the same neighborhood two weeks ago may not be related or suspicious. They say in this incident, it was an older man in a green car who asked a young girl if she had seen his puppy that was lost. When she replied "no", he said nothing else and drove away.

Anyone with information about the attempted abduction in Cartwheel Drive is asked to call Scotia police at 384-2244.
