COLONIE, N.Y. -- Congressman Paul Tonko and YNN's parent company, Time Warner Cable team up to educate seniors on the benefits of broadband internet access.

Tonko and representatives from Time Warner Cable spoke to residents of the Beltrone Living Center in Colonie about what the internet has to offer for seniors, including access to news, health information and entertainment.

The owner of the center, Colonie Senior Service Centers, recently signed a long-term contract to provide WIFI to the residents. Tonko said this will empower the senior community.

"Enhances the quality of life and safety of seniors where they can move forward. Connect to family and friends and the outside world. Also be given a heavy amount of useful information," said Congressman Tonko.

Tonko also said more internet access will also give senior better opportunities to connect with family and friends.
