WESTERLO, N.Y. -- A Westerlo mother pleaded not guilty in connection to the murder of her son.
The Albany County Sheriff's office arrested Tracey Zetzsche, 52. She has been charged with second degree murder, accused of killing her 22-year-old son.
Autopsy results show Gabriel Philby-Zetzsche died from a stab wound to the chest, skull fractures as a result of blunt force trauma and brain injuries.
The sheriff's office says Philby-Zetzsche's body was inside the apartment for several days before it was discovered by another family member.
His mother was questioned shortly after and they said she was not cooperative.
Investigators say they still don't know a motive in the case, but are confident they have the right person.
"We feel we have more than enough probable cause and we have more than enough physical evidence to follow through with a prosecution," Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said.
Zetzsche is being held in the Albany County Jail without bail.
The victim's uncle released a statement earlier saying, "At this moment, sheriff’s investigators are still trying to determine exactly what occurred. I believe it is best to let law enforcement professionals do their jobs and not comment further. On behalf of the entire Philby family, we thank you for respecting our privacy at this very painful time.”
