Two injured in Fulton County crash

FULTON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two people were hurt in an early morning car accident in Fulton County. It happened around 1:50 a.m. Thursday in Johnstown.

Authorities say Matthew Williams, 20, of Fort Hunter, was driving while intoxicated with a suspended license when he crashed on West Fulton Street. His passenger, Slater Baker, 15, was also injured.

Officials say the driver was speeding, causing the car to travel nearly a thousand feet in the air, hitting several trees before it landed.

Firefighters say it took nearly 40 minutes to get the two people out of the car using the Jaws of Life.

Both were taken to Albany Medical Center for their injuries.

Police say they were wearing seatbelts and no other vehicles were involved.

Authorities say they are looking into how the 20-year-old obtained the alcohol.
