NISKAYUNA, N.Y. -- Niskayuna police have released the names of the two young men involved in a fatal crash on Aqueduct Road over the weekend.
Police said Nicholas Giovannone, 16, of Schuylerville, was traveling eastbound around 4 p.m. Saturday when his Honda crossed into the oncoming lane and hit another vehicle head-on. Giovannone, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other car, Joseph Mormon-Tibbs, 25, of Schenectady, was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police believe the speed of the Honda was a contributing factor. Toxicology results are pending.
