SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The two candidates for U.S. Senate in 2012 have agreed to a debate that we will bring you exclusively on YNN. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and her Republican challenger, Wendy Long, will be squaring off in a live debate on October 17th.
The debate, sponsored by YNN and our sister station NY1, will take place at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. It is the first debate that both candidates have agreed to participate in. The hour-long event will be co-moderated by Capital Tonight host Liz Benjamin and NY1 political anchor Errol Louis.
Gillibrand was first appointed to her Senate seat in 2009 when Hillary Clinton became Secretary of State. The following year, Gillibrand won a special election to fill out the remaining two years of Clinton’s term.
Long, a Manhattan attorney, won a Republican primary against two challengers back in June.
