Man charged in alleged paving scam
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. -- A Glens Falls man is facing grand larceny charges after police say he took money for a paving job, then did not do the work.
The Warren County Sheriff's Department says George Brown took a $1,500 deposit from a church for a $3,000 paving job, then refused to do the work. It's the second time in a little more than a year he's been arrested for the same thing.
According to police, back in June of 2011, he was charged with grand larceny for a similar incident.
Brown has operated businesses under the names Brown's Paving, George Brown Paving, and Brown's Seal-Coating. He's being held the Warren County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail.
The Sheriff's Department says if you may have been a victim of any of those companies, to call them at (518) 743-2500.
