SAUGERTIES, N.Y. -- The Saugerties Artists Studio Tour is celebrating its tenth year and an artists' reception Friday night at Opus 40 kicked things off this weekend. It gave locals a chance to see sampling of artists’ works, as well as meet the artists.
The tour, which takes place all around the village and town of Saugerties, is only held once a year. Tour goers are given a map of works on display, which include sculpture, ceramics, oil paintings, watercolors and photographs.
Coordinator Barbara Bravo says the unique tour has evolved.
"When we started out 10 years ago, we had 11 artists. This year, we have 39. When I look back over the entire 10 years, we have had 85 different artists on the tour. So for the community, it’s a fabulous opportunity to come be exposed to art, meet artists, talk to them. It’s very inspiring if you're an artist yourself who wants to make more of a commitment to their art," said Bravo.
The tour will be running this Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
