RICHMONDVILLE, N.Y. -- One person is dead after a tractor trailer went off an I-88 overpass and hit a vehicle on Route 7 in Richmondville.

According to State Police, a tractor trailer was heading westbound on I-88 around noon Sunday when it traveled off the overpass and hit a car traveling on Route 7. Both vehicles were engulfed by flames when troopers arrived on the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer was found dead in the wreckage. The two people in the car were taken to Westchester Medical Center for serious burns. State Police said the tractor trailer was not hauling hazardous material.
