MONTGOMERY, N.Y. -- A state-run group home in Orange County was destroyed by fire on Monday. It happened at 711 State Route 211 in Montgomery.

The assistant fire chief said by the time help arrived, the home was fully engulfed but everyone was already out safely.

Montgomery Assistant Fire Chief Robert Pressler said, "We had a heavy body of fire on the exterior of the house that spread up underneath and got into the attic. Broke the windows on the first floor and got into the first floor pretty good."

Pressler said the home is a total loss.
