ALBANY, N.Y. -- A groundbreaking ceremony takes place for the Honest Weight Food Co-op's new location on Watervliet Avenue Extension in Albany.
Construction work has already started on the new space as crews were demolishing the old building over the course of the past month. Honest Weight is currently operating out of a 16,000 square foot building on Central Avenue.
In addition to offering a full line of natural foods and products, Honest Weight’s new facility will feature a larger café with indoor and outdoor seating and more parking.
Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings said the project is a win for everyone.
"I look forward to the positive impact we will have on this local economy. It is all positive. So supporting the Honest Weight Food Co-op, help support local farmers, which brings more money back into our community," said Mayor Jennings.
The new building is expected to be completed by May 2013.
