Nursing home worker charged with assault
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- An employee at a nursing home in Massachusetts has been charged with assault after officials say he tried to sexually assault a disabled resident.
Police say Paul Shartrand, 46, was arrested Sunday in response to a complaint from another employee that a disabled elderly woman had been sexually assaulted in her room.
On Monday, Shartrand pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with intent to rape, assault and battery on a disabled person over 60 years of age and injury to a disabled or elderly person. He is being held pending a dangerousness hearing.
