GREENPORT, N.Y. -- A 14-year-old girl is in critical condition after State Police say she was hit by a car on Fairview Avenue in the Town of Greenport. They say around 4 p.m. Tuesday, a driver was northbound on Fairview Avenue when the teen tried to cross the road, but ended up running into the car.

The teen was airlifted to Albany Medical Center. Officials say she is critical condition with head trauma.

The driver was not hurt and no charges are expected.
