CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. -- A local walking group is remembering the three women killed in front of a church in Voorheesville last summer.
Carol Lansing, Rose Marie Hume and Fran Pallozzi were hit as they were getting ready to go out with their walking group, the Empire State Capital Volkssporters. The group honored the victims with a prayer service and walk just about a year after the tragic accident.
Members of the group say the three women were very devoted Wednesday walkers and that they usually all came together.
"It's something that they had fun at and this is how we all knew them primarily, was walking with them and talking with them and becoming friends," said Lea Darling, Empire State Capital Volkssporters President.
Police say LuAnn Burgess was driving at 46 miles-an-hour when she hit the women last year. She was charged and indicted on nine counts, including aggravated vehicular homicide, criminally negligent homicide, driving while ability impaired, reckless driving and speeding.
