GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- State Police say they found a cockatiel in Guilderland after the bird landed on the hat of a State Police Academy recruit during firearms training.

Police say that it was found Tuesday at the Guilderland range on Grant Hill Road and they're holding the bird in their custody for safe keeping. They say if you lost a bird in the area and think it might be yours, call the State Police Academy (518) 457-7254.
